New Position Statement on Stoma Marking

The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses (WOCN) Society collaborated with the American Urology Association (AUA) in late 2007 and 2008 to develop a position paper about the importance of preoperative stoma siting for individuals undergoing incontinent urostomy surgery. This document was based on the position statement the WOCN Society and the ASCRS developed in 20071. Members of the WOCN Ostomy subcommittee, chaired by Ginger Salvadalena, worked with Dr. Gary Steinberg of the AUA to create a draft which was further modified and approved by the Boards of the AUA and the WOCN Society.

The committee members who participated in this project included: Nancy Gutman, Robin Knaff, Martie Link, Cathy Downey, Kathy Berry, Barbara Markt, Barbara Metzger, Molly Pierce, Cindy Woods-Vardeman, Phyllis Kupsick, Cindy Woods-Vardeman, Sue Currence, and Ginger Salvadalena.
