Attention to Detail. Attention to Life.â„¢ Continence Care Leadership Program Research Grant supported by Hollister Incorporated and the WOCN Society
The Center for Clinical Investigation is pleased to offer the Attention to Detail. Attention to Life. TM Continence Care Leadership Program Research Grant supported by Hollister Incorporated and the WOCN Society. This program is intended to foster clinical investigations by WOC nurses. The CCI grant application form and accompanying research proposal should be submitted to the CCI. The CCI grant application form includes instructions for preparation and submission of your proposal. Application forms and proposals will be peer-reviewed with the goal of mentoring novice or experienced researchers to advance wound, ostomy, and continence nursing. The review process is also intended to assist novice researchers to refine their proposals as needed to qualify for funding. Further information about the grants and funding eligibility is listed below.
Up to $15,000 total is available to fund one to two projects over a two-year period. Smaller awards will be given equal consideration. Proposals should be mailed to the CCI and must be postmarked no later than February 15, 2008. Notification of funding will occur prior to the WOCN national conference in June, 2008.
Funding Priorities: priority for awards will be given to the following topics:
- Catheter Related Bowel Management
- Pressure ulcer or perineal dermatitis reduction
- Economic aspects
- Prevention of wound containment or infection
- Intermittent Urinary Catheter Management
Eligibility and Terms
- Principal Investigator must be a Registered Nurse with current license but need not have a Masters or Doctoral degree; novice investigators should identify a more experienced investigator or someone with an advanced degree as part of their research team e.g., co-investigator, project advisor/ consultant, professional mentor.
- Must be a current member of WOCN.
- Submit a completed research application form and proposal.
- Sign a research agreement (contract) if selected for funding.
Terms to include
- Funds are not to be used as salary support for Principal or Co-Investigators.
- Research is to be completed within two years of funding date.
- Agree not to accept duplicate funding (i.e., funding for same project by more than one grant).
- Progress report to be submitted at end of first year of funding; final report submitted within 30 days of completion of project.
- Manuscript reporting findings of the primary research aims to be submitted to JWOCN within four months of completion of the project and final report submission; manuscript may serve as the final report.
- Submission of an abstract for paper presentation or poster at the WOCN Annual Meeting within two years of the funding date.
- Acknowledgment of the funding source in any and all publications, papers or posters presenting research findings.
