WOCN – CCI Guidelines for Proposal Review
Following are the guidelines grant reviewers will use to evaluate the merit of each research proposal.
Merit of proposed research
- Significance: Need for and importance of topic to WOCN and WOC nursing; consider potential new knowledge or gap in knowledge addressed. Prevalence or timeliness of problem or topic presented.
- Approach: Appropriateness and soundness of design, methods and analysis (consider state of knowledge of topic and statistical rules and assumptions)
- Innovation: Originality or novelty of topic, approach, measure, etc.
- Feasibility: Likelihood of completing study and within time frame of grant period; able to provide effort needed
- Research team: Do team members offer necessary expertise? Consider experience in research, participation of a research mentor in project, practice knowledge, previous collaboration of team members, and track record of publications or presentations in area.
- Fit of proposal with the grant call and funding priorities.
- General impression of proposal merit.
The proposal review also includes a review of budget, budget justification and human subjects.
