The Foundation is composed of two components: the Center for Clinical Investigation and the WOCN Scholarship Funds. The purpose of the Foundation is to raise and disseminate funds for educational scholarships and research grants related to wound, ostomy and continence nursing field. The Center for Clinical InvestigationThe Center for Clinical Investigation of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (also referred to as “the Center” or “CCI”) exists to expand the existing research base for practice by enabling WOC specialty practice nurses to develop their roles as clinical investigators and to strengthen our evidence base through funded research projects. The CCI actively supports WOC research and evidenced-based practice through several initiatives, foremost among which is its small grants program. Thanks to the generous support of corporate sponsors and WOCN members, the small grants program currently provides funding for a number of different types of research projects annually. These grants are targeted to research questions of interest to WOC nurses and our sponsors. A new CCI initiative is the WOCN Society Member's Research Grant. This grant aims to support the research of topics identified through the creativity and expertise of WOCN Society members; it will provide funding support to a WOCN Society member for the investigation of topics related to any topic relevant to wound, ostomy and continence nursing. The first grant of $7,500 was awarded in 2007. Together , we can raise the funds that will be used by our members to research the best ways to advance the practice and guide the delivery of expert health care to our patients. The scholarships are made possible through contributions to the Foundation from wound, ostomy and continence product manufacturers, private and public donations, endowments and WOCN Regions and Affiliates. Scholarships are awarded to deserving individuals committed to working within the wound, ostomy and continence nursing specialty.
