The WOCN Society Receives the Positive Impact Award for Cycling for Scholarships

The WOCN Society was honored at the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives (MASAE) annual conference on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, with the Positive Impact Award for Cycling for Scholarships!

What?
The WOCN Society along with a founding member, Dr. Katherine Jeter, embarked on one of the most comprehensive fundraising initiatives to date in 2011.

Why?
To raise $200,000 in nursing scholarship funds to support the continued education of WOC nurses.

Where?
3,100 miles across the United States.

How?
Cycling and blogging.

Goals/Outcome
Raise awareness about WOC, raise funds for the WOCN Society and generate interest in the field among nurses and nursing students.The original projected goal was exceeded with a grand total of $214,252. The individual scholarship amount has since increased by 400% per award. Following this event, 20 scholarships were awarded in Fall 2011 through Spring 2012. Each recipient received $2,000 which resulted in a grand total of $40,000 in scholarship money distributed!
