New York State Legislators: Support New York State Assembly Bill A8137 and Senate Bill S5937 requiring coverage of ostomy supplies in NYS.
As stated on change.org: An ostomy is a surgically created opening on the abdomen for elimination of waste, usually as a result of cancer, disease, or trauma. Life can go on with a new normal after ostomy surgery, except when patients are unable to get insurance reimbursement for supplies, or are limited in their selection or amount of supplies. This can be disastrous for patients. Most insurances do cover the cost of supplies (minus usual co-pays and deductibles), but there are certain NYS insurance plans, some private insurances, and some managed care plans who do not include coverage.
