New WOCN Society Image Library
The WOCN Society is excited to officially announce the unveiling of a new and improved WOCN Society Image Library. The Society has made several updates and included many new features that we feel will not only assist you in your day-to- day patient interactions, but also enhance your knowledge and better support your educational needs as a WOC nurse.
Key additions and upgrades that were made to
the existing Image Library in order to enhance its benefits for members include:
IMAGE NAMES - In the previous Image Library, many images were not labeled or described properly. The new Image Library contains correct and updated titles and descriptions for each photo.
IMAGE ALBUMS - The images in the new Image Library are organized by albums. There is an album for each main category and then sub-albums within the albums (e.g., Wound: album, Burns: sub-album). This allows for images to be more organized and placed within the most appropriate album. To provide you with an easier search, images are no longer posted in various albums.
SITE SEARCH -Instead of searching through the entire website to find an image you're looking for, the new search feature allows you to locate the image by image name, album name or category.
COMMENTS FEATURE - Find an image that was really helpful to you? Feel free to comment on it! The new Image Library allows you to comment on all images so you can contribute your thoughts and questions.
The new Image Library continues to be a members-only benefit.
Although there are more than 150 images, we can always use more! If you have any images you would like to add to the new Image Library, please complete the Image Release Statement Form at www.wocn.org/imagesubmission. If you have any questions, please contact the WOCN Society's Publications and Website Manager Becky Dryden at email@example.com.
This new Image Library would not be possible without the hard work of the Professional Practice Committee and Continence Committee. Members worked tirelessly to review the images, ensuring they are current, titled correctly and organized in the appropriate albums and sub-albums with accurate descriptions.
Your Guide to Bedside Answers: Evidence-Based Wound Care Guidelines and Fecal Ostomy Best Practice Mobile App
Evidence-Based Wound Care Guidelines and Fecal Ostomy Best Practice combines four wound care guidelines and the fecal ostomy best practice to deliver quick answers to the bedside--or wherever they are needed. The app covers pressure ulcers, fecal ostomies, lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD), lower extremity neuropathic disease (LEND), and lower extremity venous disease (LEVD).
View the differential assessment algorithm or image library to help you assess patients. Read the quick-reference guide, then view details with extended guidelines and tools.
The New England Region WOC nurses held a very successful conference in October 2013. There were almost 200 in attendance and our exhibit hall was full. We honored one of our members, Marie Gavin, posthumously, with the WOC nurse of the year award. Marie was very active in our Region and served many years as the treasurer of the Region, as well as other roles in guiding the region in its beginning years. Her husband Jim and
her friends accepted the award at the fall conference.
The region also lost a very active member this year, Janet Gillis. Janet was our auctioneer for many years for our youth rally and helped raise money to send our youth from the region to camp.
The New England Region's Historian Deb Reich is collecting pictures for tracking our history. These picture will be posted on our web page. Should you have any pictures from the New England Regional conferences or local meetings please submit to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Region looks forward to another successful fall conference. Our 38th annual conference to be held Oct. 23-24, 2014 at the Doubletree Hotel in Danvers, MA.
