The WOCN Society is proud to announce its newest WOCNEP: The Wound and Ostomy Education Program at The Valley Foundation School of Nursing, San Jose State University
San José State University, located in San José, California, is the oldest public institution of higher education on the West Coast. The Valley Foundation School of Nursing was founded in 1946 and has been well-established in the Bay Area. Today, The Valley Foundation School of Nursing offers baccalaureate, masters, and Doctor of Nursing Practice education to a diverse student population.
It would be an honor to be a WOCN. I am a diploma nurse who graduated in 1974 and have been advocating for your society to allow nurses like myself to have an opportunity to go through a course and after passing be able to practice. It's a shame that outside agencies offer training, and I have taken and passed already certified as an ostomy specialist. Years before you would take LPN's. Why on earth would you stop those that want the opportunity to go through your approved courses for certification be turned away. I am baffled and saddened to think I am not good enough.
