During WOC Nurse Week, April 12-18, 2015, members were asked to share their favorite picture wearing their WOC Nurse Week buttons, standing near their WOC Nurse Week posters or holding their WOC Nurse Week brochure.

New WTA Certification Announced


The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) recently announced a new certification category for wound treatment associates. Read our press release to learn more about the new certification. The Society's WTA Program, developed in response to the growing demand for trained wound care providers, will play an integral part in the WTA certification process when it launches this fall.

Southeast Region WOCN Society Updates


Local Conference

Save the Date for our upcoming conference at the beautiful Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando Florida. "Experience the Magic: Blending the Art and Science of WOC Nursing," will be held from Sept. 10-12, 2015. There will be three preconference contact hours plus 13 contact hours available for conference attendees.

A three hour pre-conference session will be available Thursday morning, Sept. 10, 2015: The Magic of Fistula Care, presented by Karen Edward MSN, RN, CWOCN

News

Last fall, the Alabama WOC nurses successfully hosted "The Future of WOC Nursing in the Capital of Dreams," in Montgomery Alabama. More than 150 nurses attended the educational sessions and networked with colleagues and over 70 vendors in the exhibit hall.

 

Congratulations to all of our winners at conference. The Alabama WOC Nurses proudly selected Deborah Thedford-Zimmerman for the Alabama State Recognition Award. Vicky Bryan was happily surprised (by colleagues and her family) to be awarded the WOC Nurse of the Year Award. Our conference scholarship award winners were Leah Coulter, Misty Edwards, Candi Haggard, Beverly Higbea and Karen Sanders. Our first-place poster winner was Rhonda Sullivan for her poster "Successful Implementation of a Virtual WOCN Patient Access Program Positively Impacts Healthcare in the Post-Acute Setting."
