Embrace the Concept, Define the Practice and Change the Outcome:
Medical Adhesive Related Skin Injury (MARSI)
Join us for the final installment of the three-part series of free educational webinars
focused on MARSI. This content will be presented in three parts, and while each session will build upon the content presented previously, it is not necessary to attend all three to expand your knowledge of this critical competency. However, we do request that prior to the session, participants evaluate four consensus statements (outlined below in the background information section).
Topic: Part III: Post-conference Webinar: Reporting and Refining Best Practice: MARSI
Date: Wednesday, August 12, 2015
Time: 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm ET
This webinar will summarize results obtained from the live and remote participants of the consensus symposia. Attendees will continue the work of the consensus conference and develop additional statements. Attend this webinar to contribute to the evidence base for our specialty.
At the end of this webinar, the participants will be able to:
- Describe three key, WOC-specific best practices related to MARSI
- Describe strategies to prevent MARSI
Mikel Gray, PhD, PNP, FNP, CUNP, CCCN, FAANP, FAAN
Laurie McNichol, MSN, RN, GNP, CWOCN, CWON-AP
At the 2015 WOCN Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas, attendees of the MARSI Symposia reviewed 25 consensus statements written by the original interdisciplinary group. In a facilitated session, they were able to modify the general statement and two other statements to make them specifically applicable to the WOC nursing practice. The first two statements revised refer to best practices in ostomy care. We now wish to obtain two statements pertaining to best practices in both Wound and Continence care.
In this session we will briefly review the concept of MARSI and the five categories of MARSI. Following that, attendees will participate in a facilitated virtual consensus conference as we attempt to modify additional general statements to make them specifically applicable to WOC nursing practice in the practice areas of wound and continence care.
This survey contains the four (4) statements we hope to modify and make more relevant to the WOC nursing practice. Prior to the virtual consensus conference on August 12, you are asked to either accept, reject or suggest modifications that would make the statement acceptable to you. Participation in this pre-conference activity will improve our efficiency during the virtual session.
We need your voice-and votes! Help to define the WOC nursing practice in the area of medical adhesives and change patient outcomes!
