Pediatric Ostomy Complications: Best Practice for Clinicians - Sneak Peek

The update to the Pediatric Trouble-shooting Section of the Pediatric Ostomy Care: Best Practice for Clinicians is expected to be available by the end of the year. Preview the Introduction and Purpose before it is released:

Pediatric ostomy care poses many unique challenges to parents, caregivers, and wound, ostomy and continence (WOC) nurses who do not have regular contact with the pediatric ostomy population. This document was originally developed by the WOCN Clinical Practice Pediatric Subcommittee as a trouble-shooting guide to address common clinical issues encountered when caring for an infant or child with an ostomy.

The purpose of this updated document is to facilitate the identification and treatment of common stomal, peristomal, ostomy-related, and pouching complications to enhance the WOC nurse's ability to provide competent care for infants and children with ostomies that includes parental and caregiver involvement.

Be on the lookout for this updated document and view more WOCN publications in the WOCN Document Library!
