The WOCN® Society will join the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP), along with countless organizations and health care facilities across the country and around the globe, to celebrate World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day today, Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017.
The Society recognizes and commemorates the contribution of the WOC nurse and his or her expert role in pressure injury prevention to improve quality of life for patients. The Society developed the Guideline for Prevention and Management of Pressure Ulcers (Injuries) for health care professionals who specialize in, direct, or provide care for patients with or at risk for pressure injuries.
World Wide Pressure Injury Prevention Day was first observed in 2013 and is growing in recognition from many governing bodies across the world. The annual celebration of Worldwide Pressure Injury Prevention Day is sponsored by NPUAP. For information on how you or you facility can get involved, please click here.
