The grant application proposal is available on the WOCN® Society's website WOCN® Foundation tab and click Search Research Opportunities Available for 2012.

The submission deadline for CCI research grants is January 30, 2012.

The Center for Clinical Investigation (CCI) of the Wound, Ostomy Continence Nurses Society™ (WOCN®) provides funding for research grants for WOCN® members annually. The grants are funded through the generosity of WOCN® Society's corporate partners and WOCN®. The CCI expands the existing research base for WOC nursing practice and facilitates WOC nurses to develop their roles as clinical investigators through funded research projects.

The CCI is pleased to announce the Call for Research Proposals for 2012. If you are a member of WOCN®, you are eligible to apply for one of the following six grants. International members are encouraged to apply.

The SIX research grants range from $7,500 - $10,000 and are available in the following priority areas:

  • Fecal incontinence in acute and critical care
  • Positive outcomes for the ostomate
  • Unsatisfactorily healing wounds
  • Incontinence associated dermatitis
  • Heel pressure
  • Any topic relevant to WOC nursing practice and science

New - Notice of Interest!

CCI is asking that if you are interested in applying for a 2012 research grant, please submit anytime and before the grant submission deadline a Notice of Interest to Linda Dahle, Program Associate (dahle081@umn.edu). This is not a commitment, and you can notify CCI later if you change your mind. This will enable CCI to send you any updates or resources to assist you. Please include the following information in the Notice of Interest e-mail:

  • PI Name
  • Name of Grant which you are interested in applying for
  • Topic you are considering studying
  • E-mail Address
  • Telephone Number

Who is Eligible to Apply?

  • A current member of the WOCN® Society
  • International members are encouraged to apply

Why Apply for a Research Grant?

  • Improve your ability to conduct research for your own professional development.
  • If you work for a hospital that is seeking Magnet status, this grant will promote that effort. Your research grant will enable you to obtain research-based evidence to answer a clinical question and improve the chances of success for your hospitals' application for Magnet status. Research is considered a part of structural empowerment of nurses in the evaluation process (Nurse Credentialing).
  • If you are considering applying for graduate school or a PhD or DNP program, being awarded a research grant as a principal investigator will raise your competitiveness for acceptance.
  • If you are in a Master's or PhD program, this grant can be used to help fund your thesis or dissertation study.

Research Grant Proposal Submission Toolkit

Don't miss out on how this Toolkit can help you develop and submit your research grant! It is available online on the WOCN® website at www.wocn.org and click on the WOCN® Foundation tab:
