Support Surface Algorithm

In an effort to provide clinical guidance for selecting a support surface based on individual patient needs, the WOCN Society developed an evidence- and consensus-based algorithm. Users follow pathways that guide clinical decision making for support surface use for pressure ulcer prevention or treatment.

Published in the Journal of Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing (JWOCN), the Support Surface Algorithm is the first evidence- and consensus-based algorithm for support surface selection that has undergone content validation. You can access the Support Surface Algorithm here and the accompanying JWOCN article here.

CE Course

A new continuing education course focused on the evidence- and consensus-Based Support Surface Algorithm is now available and will provide 1.0 contact hours.

The Society partnered with HealthStream to offer the course through their platform. If your facility already uses HealthStream, the course can be found under the CE Center. We encourage you to share this with others at your facility and recommend to your nursing leadership that they assign the course to all staff nurses.

If your facility does not use HealthStream, sign up and access the course for free.

Join us for a free rebroadcast of a popular symposium on the Support Surface Algorithm that was originally presented at the WOCN Society’s 49th Annual Conference and earn 1.5 Contact Hours.
