Support Surface Algorithm

In an effort to provide clinical guidance for selecting a support surface based on individual patient needs, the WOCN Society developed an evidence- and consensus-based algorithm. Users follow pathways that guide clinical decision making for support surface use for pressure ulcer prevention or treatment.

Published in the Journal of Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing (JWOCN), the Support Surface Algorithm is the first evidence- and consensus-based algorithm for support surface selection that has undergone content validation. A new continuing education course focused on the evidence- and consensus-Based Support Surface Algorithm is now available and will provide 1.0 contact hours.
