Introducing the Peristomal Skin
Assessment Guide for Consumers
Recognizing a need to help educate individuals living with an ostomy, the WOCN®  Society and Hollister Incorporated collaborated with key leaders in the field of ostomy care and ostomy influencers to create the  Peristomal Skin Assessment Guide for Consumers.

The guide is a free, easy-to-use, mobile tool that provides basic guidance for teens and adults living with an ostomy. This additional resource is designed to help identify common skin problems, provide next steps for care or management and appropriately prompt individuals to seek care or support from a wound, ostomy and continence (WOC) nurse or a nurse specialized in wound, ostomy and continence (NSWOC). Try it now!

Be sure to share this innovative tool with your ostomy patients as a resource to provide them with additional comfort and support to enhance their quality of life.

The Peristomal Skin Assessment Guide for Consumers launched via a symposium session, supported by Hollister Incorporated, at the Society's 50th Annual Conference in Philadelphia. The session featured information on the development of the tool and clinical case scenarios. For those that were unable to attend in-person, a video recording of the symposium session will be made available to view in the coming weeks. Look for further information in upcoming Society communications!
The Peristomal Skin Assessment Guide for Consumers was
funded through an educational grant from Hollister Incorporated.
