Fun fact : Teresa has been belly dancing as a hobby for the past five years! Learn more .
Join Dr. Haack and Teresa Totino, BSN, RN, CWOCN, on Tuesday, June 25 from 4:20 - 5:20pm for their session:

Why is this topic important to the WOC nurse and/or the non-specialty nurse?

Education is a daily task for both WOC nurses and non-specialty nurses. Learning about a variety of techniques, which can all be used as pelvic floor exercises, will increase the knowledge base of those who educate patients on how to impact symptoms of incontinence.

What do you hope attendees will learn from your session?

Attendees will learn about engaging the pelvic floor with a fun approach through belly dance. By attending this session, attendees will be able to practice and demonstrate basic belly dance moves to provide an alternative to “traditional” pelvic floor exercises. During the session, a discussion on the basics of the neurophysiology of skill-building should also help attendees understand why it is that the more you practice these exercises, the more effective they become. This can be applied across a range of topics in practice and in life.

How can attendees transform their practice with the information from your session?

Attendees will be able to provide additional ideas to female AND male patients who need pelvic floor strengthening to assist in controlling symptoms of incontinence.
