Media Placement in USA Today

This past weekend, many issues of USA Today, one of the top three newspapers in the US, included a special insert titled "Careers in Healthcare". This insert featured the WOCN Society in both a Q&A text titled "Specialty Nursing: Finding Your Edge" as well as an advertisement titled "Do You Want to Be a Clinical Expert?".

These inserts were included in 450,000 print copies of USA Today in several key markets and have the potential to reach 1.4 million readers!

emPOWERed Program

The emPOWERed program featured two live presentations called "Advancing Your Professional Practice" at two WOCN Society Region and Affiliate conferences this fall. The feedback from the Northeast Region conference and the Rocky Mountain Region conference was overwhelmingly positive. Here's what some participants said:

"This [presentation] encouraged me to promote my role and 'advertise' what I do."

"Role delineation...For me, I needed and appreciated the help in establishing my role in my agency. Thank you!"

"My favorite part of the session was learning about role delineation..."

Typhoon Relief

You can't change the course of Typhoon Haiyan, but you can help the people that were impacted.

As many as 5,000 people are feared dead, and more than 600,000 are displaced after Typhoon Haiyan left a wake of utter destruction over the Philippines.

The American Nurse Foundation, in partnership with the Philippines Nurses Association of America, is raising money for a Relief Fund specifically for the those affected with medical aid, and critical assistance. To make a donation, click here.

Help the Youth Rally Recruit and Fundraise for 2014

The Youth Rally is a community for adolescents with bowel and bladder diseases including Crohn's, Colitis, Bladder Exstrophy, Hirschsprung's, and Spina Bifida. Through programs like the Youth Rally annual summer camp, young people learn independence, gain confidence, and find the understanding and the support they need from their peers, counselors and WOC nurses.

The Youth Rally Committee, along with the Youth Rally's counselors and WOC nurses, provide the experience to young people from all over the country through countless hours of planning and effort, but all of the careful preparation and hard work is only made possible through financial support. You can lend your support to the Youth Rally in the following ways:

  • T-shirt Campaign - purchase a t-shirt to help raise money and spread awareness. 100% of the proceeds for "The Marcus" t-shirt go towards paying Youth Rally camp expenses. To learn more, click here.
  • 2014 Poster Design Contest - help spread awareness for the Youth Rally by designing the 2014 recruitment poster. The winning design will be printed and distributed throughout the country! If you are interested, email Jeff Osborn at
