In June 2016, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) published a request for scientific information on treatment strategies for patients with Lower Extremity Chronic Venous Disease (LECVD). AHRQ is seeking scientific information submissions from the public to inform their review of Treatment Strategies for Patients with Lower Extremity Chronic Venous Disease (LECVD), which is currently being conducted by the AHRQ's Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPC) Programs. AHRQ is looking for studies that report on LECVD, including those that describe adverse events. The entire research protocol, including the key questions, is also available online at:http://www.AHRQ.gov/sites/default/files/wysiwyg/research/findings/ta/topicrefinement/lecvd_protocol.pdf
In response to this request the WOCN Society submitted our evidence- and consensus-based algorithm focusing on compression for primary prevention, treatment and prevention of recurrence of venous leg ulcers. The algorithm and its supporting research were published in the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (JWOCN) and can be found here.
