WOC NURSE WEEK 2019
Not all superheroes wear capes! During Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOC) Nurse Week, April 14-20, 2019, the WOCN® Society is celebrating and empowering WOC nurses to discover the superhero that lives within them. As educators, researchers, leaders, experts and caregivers, each WOC nurse has a unique set of skills that allow them to bring unparalleled quality and value to the lives of individuals who suffer from non-healing wounds, ostomies, and urinary and fecal incontinence.
The Society believes the right choice to deliver evidence-based care to these individuals are nurses educated by WOCN Society-accredited Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Education Programs (WOCNEPs) and/or nurses who are certified through the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®).
As we once again celebrate WOC Nurse Week, we are urging each of our members to reflect and celebrate their unique skills that enable them to impact outcomes and improve patient care each and every day. Discover the superhero inside of you! Participate in WOC Nurse Week by:
- Proudly displaying your WOC Nurse Week poster.
- Wearing your WOC nurse pin with pride!
- Recognizing and celebrating with other WOC nursing colleagues.
- Entering the online photo contest.
- Joining us for a special webinar during WOC Nurse Week for a chance to earn one free Contact Hour.
- Listening in to our special WOC Nurse Week podcast.

This session was originally presented during the WOCN® Society’s 50th Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA, and is now being rebroadcasted due to popular demand and importance of this educational topic. Live Q&A will be available at the conclusion of rebroadcast.
This session focused on care coordination and collaboration by WOC nurses; ethics in WOC nursing, current issues and trends that influence WOC nursing; future considerations and challenges for WOC nursing; and standards of WOC nursing practice and professional performance based on the American Nurses Association Standards of Nursing Practice.
This session was originally presented by members of the WOC Scope and Standards Task Force during the WOCN Society’s 50th Annual Conference. These WOC nurse experts intrigued attendees with vignettes and practical application hints on how to enhance your professional practice by embracing the scope and fulfilling the standards.
Upon successful completion of this educational program, the learner will be able to apply the new scope and standards to every day practice situations.
