WOCN is a member of the Bladder Health Alliance (BHA), which is a group led by the Urology Care Foundation, and made up of 30 patient and physician advocacy organizations that work to advance awareness and education about bladder health. The BHA recently sent House Appropriations Committee members a letter expressing the community’s support for bladder cancer getting its own line-item under the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRPs) and for this separate program to be funded at $8M for FY2024. Bladder cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. military and veteran populations and the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer nationwide. Approximately 3,200 veterans are diagnosed with bladder cancer every year.
