Increase Patient Satisfaction and Positive Outcomes
As a graduate of the WTA Program, you understand the value of continuing education programs that support your facility’s WOC nurse and increase your patients’ access to care. Your learning does not need to end with the WTA Program!
The WOCN Society® recently developed the
Ostomy Care Associate (OCA) Program as a continuing education program aimed at improving patient outcomes by enhancing ostomy knowledge for the entire nursing team.
The intent of the OCA Program is similar to that of the WTA Program: to bridge gaps in patient ostomy care when a shortage of WOC nurses occurs. The WOC nurse acts as a Course Coordinator to share his or her clinical expertise with OCA Program participants.
After successful completion of the program, the OCA will have the skills and confidence to act as a WOC nurse extender to help patients access ostomy care when a WOC nurse is not available.
If you are interested in enrolling in an OCA Program, but do not have a WOC nurse at your facility who can serve as a Course Coordinator, then please
visit the OCA Facilities Near You page to find a Course Coordinator under whom you can enroll.
