Finding Purpose in Homecare
Becky’s journey into WOC nursing began in home health education. While developing training for her staff, she partnered with hospital wound nurses and wound clinic teams. The more she engaged with wound and ostomy care, the more she realized it was where she belonged. “As I became more involved in developing the homecare wound/ostomy program, I decided it was where I needed to be,” Becky shares. She soon earned her WOC certification and never looked back.
Why WOCN® Society Matters
Becky joined the WOCN Society to expand her knowledge and connect with experts in the field. For her, the most valuable aspect of membership has been the opportunity to learn from others. “The best part of the WOCN Society is networking,” she says. From sharing challenges to exchanging solutions, Becky finds great value in the support and collaboration the Society provides.
Making a Difference One Family at a Time
Working in home health has given Becky a unique perspective on the power of nursing. “We see how our care affects the patient and their families,” she explains. “It is so gratifying to make a difference in their lives.” That direct impact has fueled her passion for healthcare throughout her career.
Chapter Leadership and Community
Becky’s involvement with the Rocky Mountain Chapter began when she volunteered to help with one of their conferences. She enjoyed the experience so much that she stepped into the role of secretary, serving for two years before running for president. Now, as Chapter President, she helps guide a network of WOC nurses across five states.
Despite covering a large geographic area, the Rocky Mountain Chapter is deeply connected. “We have great networking between nurses in remote areas,” Becky says. She describes the chapter in one word: Amazing, a nod to the skilled, passionate nurses who support one another across the region.
Looking Ahead
As Becky prepares for retirement, she’s looking forward to spending more time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoys reading, fishing, and traveling–activities that she plans to embrace even more in the years ahead.
Thank you, Becky
Becky’s leadership, passion for home health, and dedication to the Rocky Mountain Chapter continue to inspire those around her and strengthen the WOC community across the region.
