EDUCATING TODAY for exceptional outcomes TOMORROW
WOCN is proud to collaborate with Hollister Incorporated to present Educating Today for Exceptional Outcomes Tomorrow, a program that helps advance the practice of wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) specialty nurses.
Hollister has been serving healthcare professionals and patients for 100 years — making a difference in the journey of life for people throughout the global community. Year after year, through their generous and unwavering support, WOCN is able to offer resources and educational opportunities for members and non-members alike, each with a special focus on increasing outcomes for clinicians and their patients, fostering professional growth, and advancing the evidence-based WOC nursing practice.
The following resources and opportunities are available through the Educating Today for Exceptional Outcomes Tomorrow Program:
WOCN® Ostomy Education Day
On Saturday, October 3, 2020, WOCN held an all-day online experience aimed at celebrating ostomy awareness, dispelling myths, and increasing ostomy education to improve patient outcomes. This full day of engagement and education featured five sessions led by experienced wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nursing professionals and subject matter experts and awarded a total of 4.75 Contact Hours. If you were unable to attend live and receive credit, all sessions have been archived and are still available for Contact Hours.

WOC Core Curriculum
Now in their second editions, the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses SocietyTM Core Curriculum gives you expert guidance and WOC certification exam preparation. Based on the curriculum blueprint of the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Education Programs (WOCNEPs), each book comes in an easy-to-follow format with illustrations, full-color photos, and tables.
WOCNext is an experiential event featuring online education, networking, and activities geared towards WOC nurses and other healthcare professionals dedicated to providing expert care to patients with wound, ostomy, and incontinence needs. Through the support of Hollister, WOCNext 2021 will include additional engagement and educational opportunities for attendees.
The Peristomal Skin Assessment Guide for Clinicians is a mobile tool that provides basic guidance to clinicians on identifying and treating peristomal skin complications, including instructions for patient care and conditions that warrant referral to a WOC/NSWOC (Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence).
The Peristomal Skin Assessment Guide for Consumers is an easy to use, mobile tool that provides basic guidance for teens and adults living with an ostomy. It is designed to help identify common skin problems, provide next steps for care or management, and appropriately prompt individuals to seek care or support from a WOC nurse or NSWOC. This tool is now available in both English and Spanish.
OSTOMY CARE ASSOCIATE (OCA®) PROGRAM
The WOCN Society developed the OCA Program, in part by an unrestricted educational grant from Hollister, Inc., as a continuing education program to further empower wound, ostomy, and continence specialty nurses and to improve patient outcomes by enhancing the general ostomy knowledge for the entire nursing team.
