Health Care Settings for the OCA Program

The OCA Program was designed for all health care settings, including:
    1. Home Health
    2. Hospitals and Health Care Systems
    3. Individual

Home Health, Hospitals and Health Care Systems

The WOC nurse in home healthhospitals and health care systems may gather participants at his/her facility for the online program. Individuals completing the OCA Program will function under the direction of the supervising APRN, WOC specialty nurse or physician.

The WOCN Society has created tools to help the WOC nurse market the value of the OCA Program to their facility. Those resources are included below.

    OCA Marketing Presentation

    OCA Letter to Administrators

Sample Position Description for the Ostomy Care Associate

    Individual

The OCA Program is also available to WOC nurses who meet the Course Coordinator criteria and who are interested in providing the program to clinicians in various care settings in their area or nationwide. Participants do not have to work at the same facility; instead, course coordinators can offer open enrollment in their programs.  Potential participants include nurses who are interested in advancing their ostomy care knowledge but who do not have a WOC nurse in their setting.
