Bonus Episode 1.7 (Bonus) Wound Talk Wednesday S1E7: MARSI Marvels: New Innovations for Medical Adhesive Related Skin Injuries

This special podcast is part of the brand-new Wound Talk Wednesday series. In this episode, we’re joined by Dr. Mikel Gray and Dr. Johnathan Cayce to discuss light-switchable adhesives and their potential to reduce the risk of medical adhesive-related skin injury (MARSI) by enabling gentle adhesive removal. They examine the historic dilemma in wound care between high adhesion strength and gentle removal, explaining why traditional acrylic and silicone adhesives can cause skin trauma or fail in moist, high-demand environments. They explore Lumitech™ light-switchable polyurethane adhesive technology, which incorporates a photo initiator into the polymer matrix that releases upon exposure to near-UV light. Discover how this switchable adhesive eliminates painful removal and epidermal stripping, minimizes skin irritation, saves critical nursing time, and expands clinical possibilities across disposable negative pressure wound therapy, radiation and oncology care, pediatric patients, and vascular line securement.

Wound Talk Wednesday is a series proudly supported by leading innovators in wound care. The series delivers cutting-edge insights directly from the industry’s forefront on the latest products, services, and best practices that are shaping the future of WOC care.
