Episode 16 Introducing the New Foot and Nail Section of JWOCN

 

On this episode of WOCTalk, we sit down with Tara Beuscher, DNP, RN-BC, GCNS-BC, ANP-BC, CWOCN, CFCN, NEA-BC. Dr. Beuscher has been providing foot and nail care for over 25 years. Beginning foot care practice in Senior Centers and Skilled Nursing Facilities, she developed the Foot and Nail Course for Nurses in 1996, which has been the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire’s highest-ranking continuing education course since its inception. Dr. Beuscher was on the initial Foot and Nail Care Nurse Exam test development committee with the Wound, Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®). She currently works in the podiatry department for Doctors Making House Calls, a home-based multispecialty practice providing care in homes, independent and assisted living facilities through out North Carolina. She is a very active volunteer leader of the WOCN® Society, functioning as the Lead Nurse Planner for the Society and the Foot Care section editor, a new addition to the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (JWOCN).

In this episode, we explore Dr. Beuscher’s career, what lead to her passion for foot care, her involvement and success with the Wound Treatment Associate (WTA®) Program and the exciting enhancement to JWOCN that she is spearheading, the Foot and Nail section, available in the May/June issue.
