On this episode of WOCTalk, we sit down with Carole Bauer, MSN, RN, ANP-BC, OCN, CWOCN. Carole is currently employed as a wound and ostomy nurse practitioner at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan, and has been a certified WOC nurse since 1997.

As an active member of the Society, she is passionate about the development and empowerment of WOC nurses and the WOCN Society; this has motivated to her to seek various roles within the Society, including Member at Large (Board of Directors), a member of the Ostomy Committee, member of the Scope and Standards Task Force and Chair of the WOCN Society Scholarship Committee. In this episode, we speak to Carole about her career, her role as the Chair of the WOCN Society Scholarship Committee and the WOCN Foundation Scholarship Program for WOC nurses.

Because of the awareness of the growing need for wound, ostomy and continence (WOC) nurses throughout the world and a strong belief in the continued growth and success of WOC nursing, the WOCN Society has established a program to award educational scholarships. The partial scholarships are made possible through contributions from individual members, wound, ostomy and continence product manufacturers, private and public donations, endowments, and regions and affiliates, which comprise the WOCN Society.

The WOCN Society Scholarship Committee is a standing committee of the WOCN Society. The scholarship program is operated under the auspices of the WOCN Society Foundation, which raises, maintains and disseminates monies and is accountable for the funding of awards.

Scholarships are awarded to deserving individuals who are committed to working in the specialty practice of wound, ostomy, or continence nursing. Applicants agree to support the WOCN Society’s mission and the scope of practice for WOC nursing.

The WOCN Foundation Scholarship Site will reopen for Fall applications on August 1, 2019 and will close on November 1, 2019. Click here for additional information.
