WOCN is a member of the Nursing Community Coalition which consists of 58 national nursing organizations committed to improving the health and health care of our nation by collaborating to support Registered Nurses (RNs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). Collectively, the NC represents over one million RNs, APRNs, nurse researchers, nurse faculty, and nursing students. NCC Submits Written Comments to Department of Education on Implementation of the One Big Beautiful Bill
Fifty-six members of the Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) signed onto written comments submitted to the U.S. Department of Education urging them to consider the needs of our current and future nurses when implementing H.R.1, the One Big Beautiful Bill. In particular, the NCC requests that the Department classify post-baccalaureate nursing programs under “professional” degree programs.

As we near the end of the August recess and look to the fall, sixty-two members of the Nursing Community Coalition signed onto a letter to all members of Congress, urging them to take action on top appropriations and legislative priorities that impact nursing education, workforce, and research.

NCC Statement on the Senate FY 2026 LHHS-ED Appropriations Bill
The Nursing Community Coalition issued a statement commending the Senate Appropriations Committee for retaining and providing funding for the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and the National Institute of Nursing Research in its FY 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education bill, as well as expressing a commitment to working with both the House and Senate to ensure that this remains the case in any final FY 2026 appropriations legislation.

NCC Reiterates FY 2026 Appropriations Requests to Senate Appropriations Committee
Sixty-three members of the Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) signed onto a letter to the Senate Appropriations Committee reiterating the NCC’s fiscal year (FY) 2026 funding requests and strong support for the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). This includes a request of at least $530 million for Title VIII, $210 million for NINR, and preserving NINR as an independent Institute within NIH in FY 2026. This letter comes as the Committee prepares to mark up the Senate FY 2026 Labor, Health and Humans Services, Education, and Related Agencies bill.
