On this episode of WOCTalk, we sit down with Katherine Wallender, BSN, RN, CWOCN, the recipient of the Barbara Braden Future is Bright Award. Katherine shares with us her path to becoming a WOC Nurse, her work with creating educational and professional practice resources for WOCN’s WTA Program and for her fellow colleagues, and her involvement in the Houston Methodist Hospital Pressure Injury Prevention Committee.

The Barbara Braden Future is Bright Award recognizes a new WOC nurse within the first 5 years of practice who is tri-specialty certified and destined to make a significant contribution to WOC care and exemplifies the scope of WOC nursing practice as defined in “WOC Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition” (clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, administrator).
